Description

Nokonoshima Island Park is located on Nokonoshima Island, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City.

It's a nature park with incredibly beautiful seasonal flowers. The entire island is a treasure that has been preserved for future generations, it's a must-see for both residents and visitors to Fukuoka City.

First opened to visitors in 1969, Nokonoshima Island Park was built as a place where people could appreciate the pristine nature that the land had to offer in the face of mass industrialization. The island is located about 10 minutes ferry ride from Meinohama port, about 20 minutes east of Hakata port.

The ideal day-trip from Fukuoka City, Island Park has several restaurants on the premises, including an excellent BBQ set that you grill yourself in "yakiniku-style."  It also has luxurious facilities that can be booked for overnight stays. The park boasts an abundance of activities and cultural experiences for people of all ages. No matter what time of year, Nokonoshima Island Park offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Nokonoshima Island Park is one of my favorite places to go. We take the bicycles on the ferry and ride up the hill. The reward after seeing the flowers is the winding road to the left of the entrance that takes you back through the forest and out to the beach before you reach the ferry. Noko is so close, but you feel like you’re in a rural paradise. One of the best places to go any time of year!
